Arlington Heights is a tiny suburb that is mostly shoehorned between the northbound and southbound components of the I-75 split. Because I-75 goes through its boundaries, Arlington Heights had some of the highest per capita revenues from traffic fines anywhere. Plus - as is often the case locally - the town government was awash in corruption. But - as is not often the case locally - the alleged wrongdoers were caught: Several city employees were indicted for allegedly stealing from municipal coffers.
