Dayton is an industrial city across from Cincinnati.

Since the late 2000s, there have been plans for a huge commercial and high-end residential development spanning the length of Dodd Drive behind the floodwall. The area was bulldozed and has remained mostly empty ever since. The development was rubber-stamped despite the traffic jams it would create. City officials later said they were deceived by the developer's claims that the project would include major green space. Despite this, officials continued rubber-stamping each aspect of the development.
