PART 9

Descending the US 70 viaduct in Clovis.

Where did US 84 come from? The bubble gum store? In any event, this is US 60 too.

Approaching where we lose US 60 in Texico.

US 70/84 enters Texas!

TX 86 glides under this rail bridge near Bovina.

On TX 86 near Hub, this house was caving in.

Keek! Ruan! This is TX 86 at TX 214 at Hub.

TX 86 uses Bedford Street in Dimmitt.

TX 86 in Dimmitt again. The orange sign says "W.C." I remember the time at NKU when someone trashed a restroom and a professor called the toilet a "W.C."

The faded signs are like the Dimmitt equivalent of the Washed-Out Yellow Stop Sign.

The letterboard for the Pizza Hut just says "P." That must be because there's usually "P" all over the bathroom at most Pizza Huts. Google Street View shows the sign had said "P" since at least March 2022. This is TX 86 in Tulia. Tulia is where a racist rogue cop launched a major drug bust that resulted in dozens of people being sent to prison despite lack of evidence.

This mural in Tulia has a TX 86 marker.

This building in Silverton features oodles of traffic signs.

East on TX 256.

The type of terrain we associate with the West gets its second wind on TX 256.

TX 256 again.

I don't know if we've picked up TX 70 yet. I think it was somewhere near here where there was a horrible chemical smell in the air.

TX 256 uses the brick-paved Noel Street in Memphis, Texas.

The brick pavement continues. Unfortunately, it's not TV Brick, which comes in handy when The Today Show is on, but it's still brick.

Entering Oklahoma on US 62!

US 62 in Hollis, Okla. When I went through here, I thought of "Christmas In Hollis" by Run-DMC.

US 62 meets OK 30 in Hollis.

An antique car lurked on the corner of OK 30.

US 62 east of Gould.
