PITTSBURGH trip

PART 9

West on Shaw in McKeesport.

Shaw at Coursin.

Fifth at Coursin.

Back to downtown McKeesport on PA 148.

PA 148 at Sinclair.

PA 148 angles left onto Walnut. Lysle is ahead.

The Jerome Street Bridge approach sprouts a ramp to Water Street.

Romine Avenue blasts up at left.

McKeesport has a whole other neighborhood in its northwest. This is looking down Perry Street. Perry Street used to go straight through where it's now closed at the tracks. The road seen here was still cobblestone in 2012. Like brick, cobblestone was still found some in McKeesport. The city has a street called Roy Street that had a beautful cobblestone stretch in an old Google Street View photo, but it apparently was paved over in 2022.

Looking down Windsor Street, which also used to go straight through.

Here we see the Mansfield Bridge again. Monongahela Avenue ramps down on the right.

Crossing the Mansfield Bridge.

Now we're back in Dravosburg, the land of bad stop sign fonts. We're on a ramp from the bridge that feeds into Euclid Avenue straight ahead. Euclid was brick as late as 2023, but now I fear we aren't so lucky.

Maple Avenue goes under the Mansfield Bridge approach.

Heading down Elizabeth Road.

Elizabeth approaches Curry Hollow Road.

Northwest on Curry Hollow. The road is closed up ahead for a signifcant stretch. It had been closed since 2014. That stretch includes a tunnel under a rail line. Online photos show the road in the tunnel is brick.

PA 837 at Lebanon School Road, which goes under a rail bridge at right.

A view under the rail bridge.

PA 837 again.

PA 837 goes under a rail bridge. The Monongahela River is at left.

We actually go under 2 rail bridges, and the one in the previous photo actually goes over this one.

Here the higher bridge is most prominent, with the lower bridge below it, and a pipeline in front of it all. There was a bar here that burned down in 2022 - after months of renovations.

Camp Hollow Road at New England Road.
