Bridge Street at Oneida. This neighborhood is called Lincolnville and was established by former slaves. Despite being designated as a historic district, the city carried out extensive demolition here in the 1990s and has threatened more. The neighborhood also served as a base for civil rights activists. However, demonstrators in St. Augustine were repeatedly attacked by racist mobs. A motel innkeeper even poured acid in the pool to injure protesters.
